How Much Exercise is Helpful for a Good Night's Sleep?

In my recent conversation with Aaron Arkin of Evolution Sleep, I asked about exercise, and how much is required to ensure a good night's sleep. Aaron explained:

  • Exercise physically stresses the body, and the body produces an increased amount of deep sleep as it recovers. Exercise also promotes a greater rise and fall in body temperature, which can make it easier to fall, and stay, asleep.
  • 20-30 minutes of physical activity per day can be helpful in promoting a good night's sleep.
  • In order to be effective, exercise should elevate your heart rate and get you sweating.

Thank you to Aaron for sharing his insight! Let's all get moving so that we can enjoy better sleep.
