Canada’s 150th – Fitneff is Proud to be All Canadian
Our Fitneff Team would like to take this time to celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday. We are proud to be an innovative Canadian company and would like to to celebrate some of the Canadian products and people that makes us who we are.
Celebrating the “All Canadian” WalkTop Treadmill Desk
When Laurel, Devon and I started Fitneff, we considered various countries to design & manufacture the WalkTop Treadmill desk. In the end, we found a skilled design partner in Vancouver, Form3, who helped take our concept to a world class product. Sle-Co, from St. Thomas, ON is our manufacturer and assemble our quality product for us that we proudly sell across North America.
Celebrating other Great Canadian Products
In addition to the WalkTop, we have a few innovative products that are also from Canada. The Core Chair is invented by Canadian Patrick Harrison to combat the ill effects of sitting and provide a seating solution that combines freedom of movement with optimum postural support. Another Canadian product carried by Fitneff is The Beam that was invented by lifelong friends Becky Goulet and Christa Geddes from the small town of Grimsby, Ontario. Through the shared experience of suffering back pain, they created a simple self-care tool used to release, relax, and restore the core.
Celebrating Canadian Teachers
Fitneff was honored to profile some impressive Canadians in our newsletters and blogs this past year. With the introduction of our Classroom Standing Desks this past year, I have been personally inspired by the incredible teachers that are shaping Canadian children in such a positive way. In Etobicoke, we learned of how Melissa Gage worked together with her students to develop a plan to use standing desks in the classroom. For the students of Mark Knoll, active classrooms are not a new thing as this two-time Olympian doesn’t just teach kids about being healthy and active, his daily life is an example of it. Teachers are always looking for options for students to work and focus effectively and for over ten years Heather Thompson’s innovative approach to work with specific students have ended up benefiting her entire class.
Celebrating an Amazing Centenarian
As we celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, we had the opportunity to recognize Olive Myhre’s 105th birthday this year. There is so much to learn from a person who has seen a lifetime of events that most of us only read about in history books, including two World Wars; the introduction of the automobile, the invention of the computer; and man’s first steps on the moon. Amazing to think that Canada was only 45 years old when she was born! The most important thing we learned from Olive is to get up each morning with purpose and keep moving.
Celebrating Talented Canadian Staff
Lastly, some of the Canadians I am most proud of is the staff at Fitneff. This smart, positive, and energetic team is the reason that out company is able to offer a friendly and positive experience to our customers. How Canadian!
On this 150th Birthday, the Fitneff Team and I wish you all the best that Canada can offer as we celebrate this sesquicentennial and look forward to the future.

The Hidden Benefits of Being Active in Spring
Spring if finally upon us! With the opening of the windows and doors, along with sunshine and fresh air, we are greeted with so many new opportunities to get active that don’t seem so apparent during the winter months. Getting outdoors takes much less preparation and effort. Being outdoors is pleasant and easy (at least for those of us who prefer warmer weather). The benefits of being active in spring go beyond just feeling good and being healthy, and might not be what you expect. Let’s take a look.
No longer sitting down on the job: one executive's Walktop experience
You could say that Jim Wachtel occupies a front-row seat in the corporate health and wellness industry. And, because of his job as a health care cost-containment strategist, he spends a lot of time in that seat, whether it’s in his office, in his car, or on an airplane travelling for work.
But, he's literally taking steps toward better health without compromising his productivity. Read how he's no longer sitting down on the job with the Walktop Treadmill desk by Fitneff.
January Health Check: How healthy is your company?
As January draws to a close, it’s time to take stock on how the New Year is shaping up and whether your corporate resolutions are still standing.
A few weeks ago we issued a call to action for businesses to take a vested interest in the health and wellbeing of their employees; we asked them to—literally—step up their efforts to engage employees and get them moving throughout the workday.
So, 3 weeks in, how are you doing?
